Hello!

Adopting a “Long Dog” required a bit of an adjustment for me. I grew up in the Midwest with dogs that weighed more than I did, which didn’t exactly prepare me for a future of accidentally stepping on a wiener dog in the kitchen. However, it did prepare me for the inexplicable bond between a pup and their parent (Dog Moms are Moms too, right?). Picasso entered my life, and 3 years later I was getting a dachshund tattoo!

After graduating college with a Fashion Design degree, I packed up my life, and moved across the country for a corporate design job. Picasso was the only thing that still felt like home in Seattle. Far from all I knew, I developed a bit of anxiety, and I missed working with my hands. So, I picked up knitting! Little did I know my handmade hobby would quickly turn into my “therapy craft” of choice. I found myself knitting wherever I could—at home, on the bus, even in a bar while my boyfriend “watched the game”.  

My poor Weenie Boy was having trouble adjusting to the chilly months in our new home state. He often shivered on our walks. I searched for cozy dog clothes, but nothing seemed to fit him right. In the end, I decided to experiment with knitting custom sweaters for him! I had so much fun with my new projects, and he clearly appreciated his cozy new looks (he can be a real ham).

That’s when I started thinking—Could I create cozy knitwear for other stylish, yet chilly pups?

And so, Wooly Weenie Dog was born! Inspired by the original Long Dog and our journey together, I began to develop handmade knit bandanas for pups of all shapes and sizes. I sourced durable, machine washable yarn, that was still soft and cozy. These pieces are designed to make your pup easy to spot at the dog park, giving them “that little something extra”.

Because I had such a wonderful experience adopting Picasso, I would also like to dedicate 10% of my sales to animal rescue organizations. Stay tuned on social media for what organization I choose each season!
